Five Mixed Doubles and Two Female Singles Qualify for the Second Round


Badminton news - Indonesia Open 2017 second day has ended. From the first round that was competed on Tuesday (13/6), Indonesia passed seven representatives of mixed doubles and women singles.

One more mixed doubles of Indonesia, Fachryza Abimanyu / Flower Fitriani Romadhini, escaped after winning walkover over Zhang Nan / Li Yinhui. Li backed out with an injury.

From the women's singles sector, Indonesia passed two of its representatives to the second round. They are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Fitriani.


Gregoria qualified after winning over Chen Yufei with rubber games 17-21, 21-19, and 21-19. Gregoria will next face world number one Tai Tzu Ying.

Gregoria's move was also followed by Fitriani who beat rivals from Hong Kong, Cheung Ngan Yi, also with rubber games 21-16, 16-21, 21-15. Fitriani is already awaited Korean fifth seed Sung Ji Hyun.
